If you’re feeling confused about your diagnosis or treatment plan, or partway through treatment and just want another set of eyes to look at it, we are happy to do that. We’ll be happy to take a full set of scans, X-rays, photos, and all the usual steps we do at our regular new patient exam at no charge.
Dr. Shawn Keller understands you likely just paid for it, and it’s tough to pay again just to get another opinion, or perhaps your insurance only covers one exam. Many times, for bigger, more complex cases, it’s a lot to take in, and hearing it from multiple doctors that you need it is a good thing.
We encourage and are not offended if our patients would like 2nd opinions too. It’s good to find a doctor who communicates with you in a style you like. After all, when you do more complex care, it’s like you’re married now, and hopefully it’s a good fit!
And don’t worry, we won’t contact your previous office unless you ask us to; your privacy is important to us, and we respect and maintain good relationships with all the doctors in the area. We teach courses and enjoy seeing each other—and I’m sure we all understand that sometimes patients need to hear it from more than one doctor.

Sometimes, the first doctor to tell a patient that their teeth need to come out is the villain, no matter how they say it or how their bedside manner is. I’ve had the same thing happen to me—so we’re not here to judge.
What I want my patients to know is that I will never make you feel bad for the situation with your teeth, for smoking, for bad hygiene, or whatever got you to this state; you need our help.
My Story
I went through chemotherapy 15 years ago—I’m happy and healthy now—but it led to me having almost full mouth implants, and I even wore a lower denture for a period of time. It was a nightmare.
